Product highlights and buying context
Designed for Windows, Mac, and Linux systems equipped with Thunderbolt 3 and 4 ports, the Pegasus M4 4-Bay Thunderbolt 4 RAID Enclosure from Promise Technology fulfills the demand for high-speed connectivity and efficient data transfers. Featuring four hot-swappable 2.5" SATA III drive bays, this enclosure has a maximum data throughput of 2000 MB/s, which is fast enough for 4K/8K, High Frame Rate (HFR), High Dynamic Range (HDR), and deep color workflows.
Its hardware-based controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10 configurations, while JBOD is available for those who do not need a RAID. Connectivity to your host system is established using a 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 4 port, while a second 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 4 port is available for daisy chaining. Both Thunderbolt 4 ports are backward compatible with Thunderbolt 3, and the Thunderbolt 4 host port also supports 10 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2 (3.1 Gen 2/3.1). Also featured are drive power, status, and activity LEDs, while intelligent cooling helps keep temperatures under control. Included is a Thunderbolt 3 cable and a power cord.
The Pegasus M4 combines the robust PromiseRAID engine with the high throughput of Thunderbolt. It's housed in a compact four-bay enclosure that utilizes pre-installed enterprise-level high endurance SSD, and is a perfect fit for on-the-go creative media professionals.
The Pegasus M4 is perfectly matched with Mac Studio, M1/M2 CPUs, and macOS with the DEXT driver and Intel x86.
An all-SSD array means high performance and low latency for 4K/8K ingest/playback, video editing, transcoding, and other post-production workflows. The M4 maximizes SSD speed with enterprise-level RAID data protection, delivering over 2000 MB/sec.
With a weight of 4.18 lb, the M4 is easy to transport and quiet in operation, making it a great fit for on-the-go creative media professionals.
The Pegasus M4 works with macOS and its M-series CPUs, delivering full compatibility with Mac Studio, Mac mini, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac Pro devices.
